Artist Statement

Growing up in a very artistic family, I have always had an interest in art. As a child I created doll clothes and found object jewelry and enjoyed helping my parents and grandparents with their artistic creations. My family’s talents in jewelry making and quilting have influenced how I crafts my own beautiful millefiori jewelry approaching each of my jewelry designs as wearable art.

My designs are created with detailed craftsmanship. I begin the millefiori canes by blending clay to create unique and fashionable color palettes. The detailed designs for each petal and leaf are skillfully built into each millefiori cane. The canes are thinly sliced and sculpted one petal at a time to create the colorful floral components. The handcrafted polymer beads and components are accented with hand dyed silk cords, Swarovski crystals and framed with antique filigree metals to accent the floral designs.

I have been working in polymer clay since 1997. My work has been showcased on DIY Jewelry, the Carol Duvall Show and several print publications. For many years, I traveled across the country teaching Polymer Clay techniques and selling my beads and jewelry to collectors and other jewelry designers. While traveling I found some wonderful products and inspiration to create the unique focal point of the Petal Pushers collection, the lariat. The rest of the collection soon followed along with a rainbow of colors often inspired by textiles, fashion and real flowers!

My  jewelry designs have been sold in boutiques and galleries all over the country and beyond with stores in Canada and New Zealand! I am now excited to offer the Petal Pushers collection to wearable art lovers and collectors through the web!
